My Research

I work as a Lecturer in ‘AI for FinTech and Business Analytics’ at the University of Chester in their Business School. My PhD research studied the Gamification and Serious Games community online and the social connections and influencers within the community using Social Network Analysis. The resulting thesis is titled “Contextualising Influential Thought Leaders and Online Learning Communities in Social Media: A Case of the Gamification and Serious Games Community”.

I am also interested in Self-Determination Theory and motivation, which underpins Gamification and has applications in learning and self-improvement.

Esoterica

I have a long-term interest in the Occult, Alchemy, Mysteries and Freemasonry. In 2019, I published a modern English translation of the Rosicrucian Manifestos: Fama Fraternitatis, Confessio Fraternitatis and the Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz. I am currently working on a new version which will present the Fama and Confessio with updated annotations and commentary.
