No Need
On this night, spare a thought for the hundreds of charities that aren’t deemed worthy by the BBC of a dedicated evening of television, lots of advertising on television, radio, internet and print in the weeks leading up to that evening – all funded by licence payers who have never been consulted.
Cancer research, conservation, homeless support, disabled charities and many more would love this sort of attention just once.
When you think of making a pledge or donating to support the worthy cause that the BBC has ensured you are paying for and companies up and down the land cajole their employees with the hope of sharing the limelight, think about chucking a few coins to Cancer research, RNIB, RNLI, RSPB, Macmillan instead. Every little helps, especially when charity is highjacked every year and the nation guilted into joining in.
